Florida ready-mix delivers resulting record breaking pour

The TITAN value to “commit to and deliver results” was evident on May 11, 2002, when 9,900 cubic yards of concrete were delivered and poured at Aqualina, a condominium building in Miami Beach. This team effort included more than 230 employees from the Southern, Eastern and Central regions in Florida, with raw materials from Pennsuco plant, and resulted in a pour of 771 cubic yards per hour – 11 cubic yards per hour more than the original goal. The task was completed in 13 hours with no plant breakdowns, very few truck incidents, no accidents and no injuries.

Planning for the delivery took more than four months and included numerous meetings with the customer and with police officers and city commissioners. Because of traffic congestion on Collins Avenue, police officers blocked off two lanes of traffic for 10 blocks in order to stage the trucks. In total, 154 trucks poured 990 loads, with the first two trucks arriving at 2:45a.m.
