Grey Cement CEM I 42,5 R

Upon setting, the CEM I 42,5 R cement provides high early strength, which makes it ideal for reducing the formwork removal time in prefabricated element applications, such as in subway tunnels, and ready-mix concrete. Its quick reaction time also produces more heat, which can be beneficial in colder conditions.

The ΤΙΤΑΝ CEM I 42,5R (Portland) cement is designed for quick strength development in concrete and for achieving high final strength. It is also ideally suited for use in ready-mix concrete, prefabrication, construction of tunnel sections, shotcrete and the preparation of dry-mix mortars and special repair additives.

Portland cement is manufactured by firing a precise mix of raw materials, including limestone, silica, aluminium oxide and small quantities of other materials to form the clinker. The clinker, combined with calcium sulfate to control setting, is then ground to produce cement of a specific fineness. Up to 5% secondary ingredients can be introduced at the grinding stage.

The TITAN I 42,5 R cement is produced from the same clinker as CEM I Portland cement, but is ground much finer for enhanced activity. The CEM I 42,5 R cement provides higher early strength, without significant change in setting times or in its workability time.

Features and Benefits:

  • Enhances the pace of prefabricated module production by allowing the early removal of formworks.
  • Helps address the effects of low ambient temperatures.
  • Is compatible with the chloride admixture requirements for prestressed concrete.
  • Is ideal for producing architectural concrete due to its stable coloration, as for example in the Acropolis Museum where exposed concrete surfaces prevail.
  1. Product Applications

In order to produce strong concrete using CEM I 42,5 R, the mix's cement content must be kept at an acceptable level. The ELOT EN 206 standard and the Concrete Technology Regulation 2016 set out guidelines for the use of cement in concretes for various categories of exposure and adverse soil conditions and the planned longevity of the structure.

All typical concrete additives (e.g. plasticizers, air-entraining agents, retarders) can be used with our CEM I 42,5 R cement.

  2. Environmental Product Declaration (EPD), Declaration of Performance and CE Marking

Our cements comply with the ELOT ΕΝ 197-1 harmonized European standard and are subject to third-party accreditation procedures by a notified EU body according to System 1+ for the Assessment & Verification of Constancy of Performance (AVCP).

TITAN has published the Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) of cement, through an independent certified body.

The EPDs, the Declaration of Performance on the key attributes of the product and the CE Marking can be found here.

The CE Marking is placed on the packaging and/or the dispatch documents as per the Regulation for Construction Products.

  3. Health and Safety

Contact with wet cement, wet concrete or cement mix may cause irritation, dermatitis or serious alkali burns. The contact of cement dust with bodily fluids (e.g. sweat or eye moisture) may also cause irritation, dermatitis or burns. It entails a serious risk of eye damage. Wear suitable, impermeable protective clothing, gloves and eye/face protection. In case of eye contact, rinse off immediately with plenty of clean water and seek medical advice. After skin contact, wash off immediately with plenty of clean water. Keep out of reach of children. Contains chromium (VI). May cause allergic reactions, the risk of which is higher if the cement is used beyond the use-by date stated in the dispatch documents.
