Specialized knowledge and its application
Research and Development is of critical importance at TITAN. The department was set up in 1992 and falls under the Group's Engineering and Technology Function. Initially it focused on technical support aspects but soon developed its own vision, founded on the concept that cement is a "living" material, which should be studied at multiple levels in relation to its durability and the mitigation of its environmental footprint.
In this context, the Research and Development department collaborates with many research organizations, including major Greek universities and the most important Greek research institutes. Similar collaborations extend beyond the country's borders and include internationally accredited universities, such as MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology), EPFL (Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne) and KULeuven (Katholieke Universiteit Leuven). The goal is to develop a cradle of advanced technical expertise within the Group and a nursery of scientists specializing in cement and concrete technology.
The collaboration between TITAN and academia focuses on two endeavours: the realization of research projects and the support of undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral theses.
