Pozzolana quarries in Xilokeratia (Milos) and Apsalos (Pella)

The local studies for the protection of biodiversity at the pozzolana quarries in Xilokeratia (Milos) and in Apsalos (Pella) have been completed.

The study in Milos pertained to sites designated as Natura Special Areas of Conservation, which provide the habitat for protected species, such as the Milos viper (Macrovipera schweizeri) and Eleonora's falcon (Falco eleonorae) on land and the Mediterranean monk seal (Monachus monachus) at sea.

The study in Apsalos pertained to a Special Protection Area for the protection of birdlife.

These two studies were conducted by us, in collaboration with the Hellenic Society for the Protection of Nature, and the implementation of the local action plans is currently in progress.
