"PLAY IT SAFE"
More than 300 children, accompanied by their parents, took part in the “PLAY IT SAFE” event held at the Politia cultural centre in Patras, on Friday 8 June 2007.
The leading figures of the occasion were Tanas and Panti, who took charge of entertaining the children as they participated in drama activities, created multi-coloured constructions and, for about three hours, enjoyed themselves – all the time learning how to play safely at the seaside, at home, at school and on holiday.
“PLAY IT SAFE” is an interactive event designed to educate children about safety and to prevent accidents during play, combining instruction in safety through various kinds of play (theatre, mime, painting, etc.) with useful advice for parents. The programme – an initiative by TITAN and PANTECHNIKI - has already been staged in Thessaloniki and in Ioannina, with success.
The Patra event was organized under the aegis of the Patras City Council and UNICEF, in association with FAOS, the Directorate for Primary Education, the Child Injury Response Society and the Red Cross. A group of lifeguards were present to advise children on how to deal with accidents on holiday.
Also present were the Dean of the University of Patras and President of FAOS, Mr. Stavros Koubias, Mr. Ilias Lyberis, Director of UNICEF Hellas, members of FAOS and executives of the TITAN Group and PANTECHNIKI.
A pleasant surprise awaited the children at the end of the event: each of them was presented with a flowerpot to take home – a gift from the TITAN nurseries.
