The "I Play and Understand" Exhibition at the Leonidas Canellopoulos Cultural Center in Elefsina
How can we learn to express ourselves through the arts, while using logic and mathematics to gain an understanding of the world? How are science, art, mathematics and philosophy connected?
The Herakleidon Museum’s Interactive Exhibition "I Play and Understand" offers an exciting, educational journey from the senses to the intellect, suitable for all ages. The exhibition will be inaugurated on Wednesday, October 14 at 19:00 at the Leonidas Canellopoulos Cultural Center and will be open to the public until December 30.
It is organized as part of TITAN’s annual tradition, in cooperation with the Municipality of Elefsina and the local Cultural, Sports, Social Policy and Pre-School Education Organization, in honor of the late Leonidas Canellopoulos, who had served as President of the Company for many years.
In the exhibition area, tables with interactive exhibits and works of art introduce visitors to the meaning of symmetry in nature and art, to the world of numbers and shapes, as well as to the elemental algorithmic operations, and issues of artistic distortion and reformation. The journey begins with the pre-Socratic era and the transition from myth to reason, continues with the Pythagoreans, the Eleatic philosophers, Plato, Aristotle, and the Hellenistic period, and goes as far as the Renaissance, and even 20th century modern art, the contemporary science of chaos, dynamic systems and fractals. The design and implementation of this exhibition draws from international experience in the field of interactive learning.
Interested parties can visit the exhibition until December 30, 2015. Guided tours will be available for schools; to book, please call +30 210 55 65 614 - +30 210 5565612.
