Cooperation Protocol signed between TITAN Cement S.A. and the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH), sealing a long-standing and constructive relationship

A Cooperation Protocol was signed between TITAN and the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH), sealing the close and long-standing relationship between the two in the area of training provided to undergraduate students. It is a relationship that began in 2005 and demonstrates TITAN’s enduring commitment to assisting the youth through an internship program that allows them to enhance their knowledge, gain technical know-how and work experience, and advance their skills, hence becoming better equipped when seeking job opportunities in the future. It should be noted that TITAN is the first business to sign a Cooperation Protocol with the University.
According to the Cooperation Protocol, young men and women studying in four AUTH schools (Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering and Chemistry) will be employed for a period of two to three months in their area of expertise at TITAN’s plant in Nea Efkarpia.
This is a particularly well-structured program, designed by TITAN’s executives with profound technical knowledge, and approved by the AUTH, with the aim to bridge theoretical knowledge with practical -“on the job”- training. Furthermore, the interns will be trained on health & safety, as well as on environmental issues, while at the end of the program they will prepare a brief research or practical project which will be presented to the engineers of the plant.
The Cooperation Protocol was signed by the Rector of the Aristotle University, Professor Pericles Mitkas, and by TITAN’s Executive Director, Greek Region, Mr. Sokratis Baltzis, at the event organised on Thursday 26 February 2015 by the Student Practice Office of the AUTH entitled: “4th Annual Event to Recap the Student Practice Programme of the AUTH for the year 2014”. It is worth noting that TITAN was also acknowledged as an organisation that provided internship programs to young students in the course of the previous year.

About our actions for the youth
The challenges facing young people in their transition from education to employment and the support required are considered a priority among TITAN’s activities. In this context, the Group has established a multi-faceted cooperation scheme with the academic community, which includes training and internships, joint organisation of information events, visits at universities, implementation of educational programs at the sites of the plants, cooperation with student initiatives, etc.
