Two TITAN employees save lives by becoming Bone Marrow Donors
TITAN Cement S.A. contributes to the work of KEDMOP with 323 volunteer donors
TITAN Cement S.A. contributes with 323 volunteer donors to the total of over 6,000 volunteers of the Center for Information and Engagement of Bone Marrow Volunteer Donors (KEDMOP), through an awareness campaign, systematic mobilization and financial support. As a result, two TITAN employees became life-saving bone marrow donors. It is worth noting that there are now seven Bone Marrow Donors through the ranks of KEDMOP.
TITAN’s donors-employees were honoured at a special event entitled “Become Knowledgeable – Save a Life”, during which the bone marrow donors were introduced to the recipients. The event was organised by KEDMOP at the Conference and Cultural Center of the University of Patras on Wednesday December 17th, 2014.
TITAN is one of the first supporters of KEDMOP, participating since 2010 in the campaign for increasing the number of Greek bone marrow donors. The Company acts as an ambassador, providing information and raising awareness among its employees and their families, the local communities where it conducts its business, as well as among students of the BEST teams (organization of students pursuing technological studies) of the Polytechnic Schools of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and the University of Patras, with which it cooperates. The Company covers the cost of testing each donor’s sample.
Moreover, acknowledging TITAN’s overall contribution and continuous support of KEDMOP’s work, the Board of Directors of KEDMOP presented the Company with an honorary plaque.
