13th “Graduate Students’ Forum”
TITAN supports graduate students in preparing to enter the labor market
The importance of soft skills in complementing academic qualifications, advice on writing a competitive CV, interview techniques, as well as practical tools to search for employment and entrepreneurship opportunities were the topics discussed at the 13th “Graduate Students’ Forum”, the annual event organized by TITAN, fostering open dialogue amongst graduate students and representatives of the business community.
The event entitled “My next step: Ideas and directions for career choices (opportunities?)” was held on 28 November 2014 at TITAN’s plant in Kamari, Viotia, and was attended by 200 graduate students from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, the Athens University of Economics and Business, the University of Piraeus and ALBA Graduate Business School.
The young scientists received valuable information on the European and Greek labor market from business people and top-level professionals who highlighted the skills sought by companies in future employees (soft skills and hard skills). Furthermore, through a series of presentations that included practical examples and business cases, participants were able to see how they can be supported in pursuing technological entrepreneurship and learned about internship opportunities and how the use of the Social Media can be beneficial in their job search.
Students and speakers were welcomed by Takis Canellopoulos, TITAN Group Investors Relations, Executive Director, and Ioannis Monahos, Manager, TITAN Kamari Plant. The speakers who shared practical advice based on their experience were: Thomas Kelepouris (Senior Engagement Manager, McKinsey & Company), Peggy Velliotou (Partner, People Services, Advisory, KPMG), Anastasia Amvrosiadou (Human Resources Manager, Southern Europe, S&B Industrial Minerals), Vassilis Papakonstantinou (President of the MIT Alumni Association in Greece and Chairman of the Board of Directors of MIT Enterprise Forum Greece), Nikos Tsamis (Founder of Eventora), Maria-Gina Leria (Project Manager, ReGeneration) and Vassilios Velkos (Career Services Manager at kariera.gr).
