“Safety at Home” Programme for 10,000 students in 2013 by ΤΙΤΑΝ
The company has started to receive the requests for the implementation of the programme at schools in 2014.
Ten thousand students in 2013 attended the “Safety at Home” educational programme provided by TITAN employees-volunteers at Primary and Secondary Schools throughout Greece, aiming to raise awareness among children on issues of health and safety, and to contribute to the prevention of child accidents.
Understanding that part of the industry know-how can be a source of knowledge and provide social assistance, the employees of TITAN, within the framework of Corporate Social Responsibility, drew up an educational programme entitled “Safety at Home” and addressed to Kindergarten, Primary and Junior High School students. The programme aims to raise awareness among children on issues of health and safety, and to contribute to the prevention of child accidents, by presenting safe practices and rules which help avoid risks that could lead to accidents during play, at home or at school.
The informative events of the programme are organised and implemented by volunteers who work at the Health and Safety Department of TITAN Greece, INTERBETON, TITAN factories and Headquarters, as well as by education officials. The events held follow the model of the ancient Greek Agora: after a series of presentations, questions and clarifications, students have the opportunity to discuss the causes of accidents, and how to prevent and avoid them.
At the end of each event, all participants receive a copy of the “Safety at Home” manual, which is available on Titan’s website.
The “Safety at Home” programme began in February 2012. In 2012, 3,500 students from 33 schools attended the events, while in 2013 the respective figures were 10,000 students from 64 schools throughout Greece.
The “Safety at Home” programme for the prevention of child accidents will also be implemented in 2014.
