Exchange of good practices for health and safety in the workplace
A conference was held at the TITAN plant in Thessaloniki on 10/11 December 2012, focusing on awareness-raising, key issues and the exchange of good practices in workplace health and safety. The conference was attended by 140 contractors, safety technicians and engineers from the public and private sectors, as well as representatives of architectural and engineering practices and public sector agencies, and members of the educational community.
The conference - titled Health and Safety in the Workplace: Challenges and Ongoing Improvement – was organized as part of a broader initiative by TITAN to raise the awareness of contractors in the area of workplace accident prevention, and to allow all the relevant agencies and professionals to exchange ideas and experiences. Similar events have been held in the ThriasioPedio area, in association with other companies, in Patra and in Ioannina.
The delegates heard presentations by representatives of agencies including the Ministry of Labour and the Macedonia-Thrace Workplace Risk Prevention Centre, as well as experts in accident prevention from companies like TITAN, Hellenic Petroleum, Attiko Metro SA and Samaras & Associates, and lecturers from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
Health and safety education and accident prevention are key priorities in all areas of TITAN activity, and are not confined only to Group employees.
