TITAN CSR AND SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT REPORT WINS FIRST PRIZE FOR QUALITY
For the third year running the University of the Aegean has awarded TITAN Cement S.A. first prize for the quality of its Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainable Development Report.
The University of the Aegean researches and evaluates the CSR and Sustainable Development Reports issued in Greece by businesses and organizations, using the international GR1/G3 standards of the Global Reporting Initiative. Using a methodology developed by Dr. Konstantinos Evangelinos of the Business Environment Policy and Management Workshop of the University, each of the 119 indicators proposed by the GRI are evaluated, the company reports being ranked in terms of the fullness of the data they supply in relation to each of the indicators.
The results were announced at a special event, the CSR Reporting Forum, held in Athens on 30 November and organized by the companies Sustainable Development, TUV Hellas and Connective WGSE.
This award from the University of the Aegean is further evidence of the quality, reliability and comprehensive content of TITAN’s CSR Reports. We should point out that our Group’s Reports for 2008 and 2009 were graded A+ - the highest level allowed for in the GRI system.
TITAN was the first company in Greece to adopt international standards for its Reports and now follows not only the GRI standards, but also the WBCSD/CSI specifications for measurement and independent certification and the principles of the UN Global Compact.
