9th LEADERSHIP FORUM

The most recent Leadership Forum was held at the company’s Kamari plant in Boeotia on 23 November 2010. This was the ninth Forum to be staged at Kamari, the first having been organized in 2002 as part of the programme of events marking the centenary of TITAN Cement S.A. Since then a further eight of these events have been staged at the Kamari plant, and five in Thessaloniki.

The purpose of the Forum is to introduce future managers to the real conditions they will meet in the business world and the international market. They also have the opportunity to exchange ideas and concerns with representatives of the academic and business communities.

The most recent Forum was attended by about 280 students from postgraduate programmes at the Athens University of Economics and Business, the University of Piraeus, the Athens National and Capodistria University, the ALBA Graduate Business School and Indianapolis College, Athens.

The students and speakers were welcomed to the event by Konstantinos Kotsias, manager of the Kamari plant. They were also addressed by Yiannis Kollas, TITAN Director of Human Resources, who spoke about the Group’s corporate social responsibility programme, of which these Leadership Forums form a part.

The Forum programme featured an open discussion on Academic knowledge and business needs: Do current trends in study meet the needs of the contemporary business and the young manager?

The discussion was chaired by Ioannis Nikolaou, Assistant Professor at the Athens University of Economics, and speakers included Vasilis Vazakas, Director of Human Resources at Elais-Unilever Hellas, Spyros Kapralos, Chairman of the Greek Olympic Commission, Venetia Kousia, CEO of Manpower, Odysseas Kyriakopoulos, Chairman of S&B Industrial Minerals S.A., Vasilis Tsiringakis, graduate of the ALBA school and Product Manager at Mercedes-Benz Hellas, and Leonidas Hytiris, Professor and Director of Postgraduate Studies in Business Administration at the University of Piraeus.

The programme also featured a goal mapping exercise for the students, using the format developed by Bryan Mayne, which offers a valuable tool for achieving personal and professional goals. The methodology is designed to provide personal empowerment and assist in the selection of the best career objectives.

The students were given a guided tour of the Kamari plant and during lunch had the opportunity to talk to the panel and speakers and to TITAN executives.
