DISTINCTIONS FOR TITAN

  1. From the Athens Exchange
  2. From the Thriasio Hospital in Elefsina
1. On 28th September 2006 the Athens Exchange celebrated the 130th anniversary of its founding. At a special event arranged to mark the occasion, awards were bestowed on the oldest companies listed on the Exchange, and on those companies which have recorded profits and distributed dividends to their shareholders in every one of the last twenty-five years.

For TITAN, this meant collecting two prizes, since we found ourselves included in not one but both of these categories!

  • Titan was listed on the Exchange in 1912 and so was included in the first category alongside other venerable Greek companies like the Ethniki, Emporiki and Piraeus Banks, and the AGET Heracles cement company.
  • Having recorded continuous profits for no fewer than fifty-six years, and distributed dividends to our shareholders for fifty-four consecutive years, TITAN also found itself among the second group of award-winners, along with the companies Biohalko, Elais, METKA, the Bank of Greece and Alpha Bank.

The awards, presented by the Minister for Economy and Finance, Mr. Giorgos Alogoskoufis, and Spyros Kapralos, Chairman of the Athens Stock Exchange, were received on behalf of the company by Group Chairman Andreas Canellopoulos and Managing Director Dimitris Papalexopoulos.

2. To mark the tenth anniversary of its opening, the Elefsina General Hospital, the Thriasio, organised a special event on 25th October 2006, as an opportunity to honour major donors and all those – as the then Director of the hospital, Maria Karra, emphasized – 'who have contributed in any way to the idea, the vision, the planning, implementation, realization and day-to-day running of the hospital'.

Among those honoured was the TITAN Company, which has contributed to the creation of the hospital in a variety of ways:

  • Providing the larger part (27 out of 50 hectares) of the plot
  • Donating 1,700 tons of cement for the construction of the hospital
  • Financial support for various phases of the project

The event was attended by Members of Parliament, representatives of the prefectural and municipal authorities, local agencies, etc.

The commemorative plaque was presented by Deputy Health and Social Solidarity Minister Athanasios Yiannopoulos, and accepted on behalf of the TITAN Group by Nellos Canellopoulos, Group External Relations Director.
