THESSALONIKI LEADERSHIP FORUM
On 1st December 2006 Thessaloniki once again hosted the TITAN Cement Leadership Forum. This very successful event for postgraduate students was the eighth of its kind in a series launched by the Company as part of its centenary celebrations in 2002. Five forums have so far been organized at the Company’s Kamari plant in Boeotia and three in Thessaloniki.
The purpose of the Leadership Forum is to improve communication and cooperation between postgraduate students and representatives of the academic and business communities. It provides an arena for the exchange of knowledge and opportunities for meaningful reflection and discussion on key economic and other issues of the present day.
This month’s Forum in Thessaloniki was attended by 150 students from postgraduate courses at the University of Macedonia and the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. The students, panel and guest speakers were welcomed by Dimitris Papalexopoulos, Managing Director of the TITAN Group, and Dimitris Mihail, Chairman of MBA Programmes at the University of Macedonia.
The Forum involved two round-table discussions on issues chosen by the students themselves. The first session, Business internationalization – Business challenges and adaptability, was introduced by E. Petridou, Assistant Professor at the Aristotle University, Thessaloniki, and addressed by the guest speakers N. Efthymiadis, Chairman of Redestos Efthymiadis Agrotechnology Group and M. Kortesis, Chairman of IOVE.
The second session, Contemporary trends in the labour market for young managers and choice of working environment, was introduced by S. Xirotyri-Koufidi, Professor at the University of Macedonia, and addressed by the guest speakers A. Gavriilidis, Managing Director of Egon Zehnder International, L. Triantoyianni, Partner in Egon Zehnder International, and G. Dervakos, Director of Human Resources at IKEA.
In the interval between the two sessions the students were given a tour of the Nea Evkarpia plant and had the opportunity, during lunch, to talk to the guest speakers and to TITAN executives.
