TITAN CEMENT S.A. HOLDS A SUCCESSFUL LEADERSHIP FORUM IN THESSALONIKI – THE FIRST TIME THE EVENT HAS BEEN STAGED IN NORTHERN GREECE
The first Leadership Forum to be organized in northern Greece was held on Friday 19 November 2004 in Thessaloniki. The Forum is an innovatory event devised by Titan to encourage communication and debate between postgraduate students and representatives of the academic and business communities.
The first of these Forums was held in 2002 as part of the Titan Group’s centenary celebrations. Three Forums have already been organized in Athens, building valuable bridges between postgraduate education and the reality of the business world.
The Thessaloniki Forum was attended by students from postgraduate courses at the Aristotle University and the University of Macedonia. The programme included two round-table discussions on issues proposed by the students themselves.
The introductory address was delivered by Mr. G. Hatzidimitriou, Chairman of MBA Programmes at the University of Macedonia. The students were then welcomed to the Forum by Mr. D. Papalexopoulos, Managing Director of Titan S.A.
The first subject was MBA and employment: What sort of business are young people looking for? Working environment: Knowledge – Development – Rewards. The questions raised were discussed by Mr. G. Andreadis, President of the Federation of Greek Tourist Businesses, and Mr. I. Kostopoulos, from the Greek oil company Ellinika Petrelaia. The panel was chaired by Mrs. Xirotyri-Koufidi from the University of Macedonia.
The second subject – Business internationalization: What sort of young people are businesses looking for? Perceptions and Skills – was discussed by Mr. V. Chrysikakis of the HVB Group and Mr. K. Xatziraptis from Kraft Foods. The panel was chaired by Mrs. E. Petridou from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
The Forum was attended by 130 students – an indication of the high level of interest aroused by the event. The quality of the questions raised and the views exchanged has encouraged the organizers to plan annual Forums for Thessaloniki – an opportunity for Titan S.A. to help young people appreciate more fully the needs of the contemporary labour market and find the kind of employment which best suits their talents.
