TITAN: 2020 Sustainable Development Report for its Greek operations
The 2020 Annual Sustainable Development Report of the Greek Business Unit of the TITAN Group presents its robust performance and highlights the Company’s enduring commitment to sustainable development
The Greek Business Unit of the TITAN Group publishes the Sustainable Development Report focusing on Greek operations for 2020, thus complementing the ongoing communication of the Group’s financial and non-financial performance. In a challenging year, TITAN recorded improved performance in Greece, while achieving seamless continuation of its operations and at the same time prioritising the protection of its employees and support for local communities, its partners and customers.
The Report includes all aspects of the business activities of TITAN and INTERBETON, their corporate governance and sustainable development performance in economic, social and environmental terms for 2020, as well as the Greek Division’s vision and commitments for the coming years.

Key highlights from the 2020 Sustainable Development Report of the Greek Business Unit of the TITAN Group:
- Total turnover for 2020 amounted to €246.6 million. EBITDA came to €17.2 million. The Company’s results were reinforced by higher domestic cement sales, high export levels, increased use of alternative fuels and better operating performance due to the implementation of innovative digital technologies.
- Firm commitment to Safety, with a 23% increase in safety check actions, as well as the completion of training programmes and road safety seminars for TITAN and INTERBETON employees and partners.
- Emphasis placed on Health through actions aimed at achieving the highest possible level of physical, mental and psychological well-being for employees, while also taking into account the conditions of the pandemic.
- Increase in the utilisation of digital technologies in our operations and the implementation of related projects that resulted in greater production efficiency and assurance of the high quality of products.
- Implementation of new investments to reduce CO2 emissions and contribute to the mitigation of climate change, with the aim of increasing the use of alternative fuels and alternative raw materials. At the same time, laboratory and industrial tests were conducted on new types of low-carbon cement and concrete.
- Certification with the highest Platinum rating according to the “Zero Waste to Landfill” standard for all cement plants, rewarding the successful practice of diverting virtually 100% of waste from landfill.
- Continuous excellent environmental performance in accordance with the Greek and European regulations and meeting the strict qualitative and quantitative targets set by the Company itself. The performance of the cement plants, including air emissions, is now published on a new online platform, accessible by all.
- Updating the biodiversity risk assessment for the Company’s cement plants and quarries. Biodiversity management plans have already been drawn up for five of the six facilities, while the sixth study will be completed soon.
- Maintaining a high percentage of employees from local communities (98%) and numerous social actions that focus on synergy with the communities.
- Continuous support of young people with initiatives for their education, training and employability, such as the renewal of 10 Protocols of Cooperation with Universities and Higher Educational Institutions. In 2020, TITAN offered 50 internships at its centres of operation in Greece.
