TITAN and the Road Safety Institute "Panos Mylonas" present the "Smart Move - Safe on the Move" educational program at the Efkarpia Plant in Thessaloniki

TITAN and the Road Safety Institute (R.S.I) "Panos Mylonas" recently presented the "Smart Move - Safe on the Move" educational, experiential program at the Efkarpia Plant. Through its four sub-programs, created by the R.S.I "Panos Mylonas", children and teenagers from 5 to 18 years old, as well as the public, are invited to be trained in traffic education and safe mobility.

Through many different experiential games and exercises, using several educational tools like magnetic boards, drunk simulation glasses, crash simulators, videos and presentations, participants get familiar with signage, proper pedestrian behavior and vehicle traffic rules, acquiring necessary knowledge and skills to develop a driving culture that will make them use the roads in a safe – and above all – responsible way!

The inauguration of the program took place on Monday, March 17, in the presence of Mr. Nikolaos Jollas, Deputy Governor of Digital Governance, who represented Deputy Governor of Central Macedonia region, Mrs. Athina Athanassiadou-Aidona, Mr. Konstantinos Gioutikas,  Vice-Regional Governor of the region of Thessaloniki, Mr. Dimitris Aslanidis, Mayor of the Municipality of Pavlos Melas, the Director of the Thessaloniki Traffic Police, Brigadier General Mrs. Paraskevi Papageorgopoulou, Mr. Alexandros Kopsis, Regional Director of Primary and Secondary Education of Central Macedonia, representatives of the Local Authorities and of the TITAN Group, along with a number of distinguished guests.

In his greeting, Vassilis Stroungaris, Director of the Efkarpia Plant, said, among others, "Unfortunately, our daily life is flooded with news concerning traffic and road accidents. Most of them have very negative consequences for the victims, their families and our society. For us at TITAN, Safety is a top priority. We know that to strengthen safety, besides rules, procedures or the necessary technical means, above all we need to establish a safety culture. Such a culture requires training. To this end, we joined forces with the leading Road Safety Institute "Panos Mylonas" to launch this program for the first time in Northern Greece. Even if the life of just one of its participants is saved thanks to the program’s education, then yes, we will be talking about a very successful project".

In her speech, Mrs.Vasiliki Danelli - Mylonas, President of the Road Safety Institute "Panos Mylonas",  addressed the critical issue of road traffic incidents that are a scourge for our society but also an obstacle to the growth of the country, and stressed: "This new cooperation initiative between the Road Safety Institute "Panos Mylonas" and TITAN, an industry that substantially contributes to Greece’s growth, highlights the meaning of corporate social responsibility. Moreover, it marks an important action of the private sector that significantly supports our work for society, especially in these difficult times and empowers our activities in Northern Greece. Through the Road Safety Reference and Education Centre that we are launching today, and the program we have created together with TITAN, we stand by the children and young people of Northern Greece in the fight to protect life on the roads and create responsible citizens. I would like to sincerely thank the management and executives of TITAN who worked with us for the development of the program, as well as all those who have been supporting, in the last 20 years, this huge project that we pursue with consistency and dedication to ensure safer roads and a better future. Together, we keep moving forward to realize our vision of a world without traffic accidents”.
