Grey Cement CEM I 42,5 R
CEM I 42.5 R delivers high early strength—making it a smart choice when speed matters. It helps reduce demoulding time in precast applications (including tunnel segments) and supports efficient production in ready-mix concrete. Its rapid reaction also releases more heat, supporting reliable performance in colder weather.
TITAN CEM I 42.5 R (Portland) is engineered for fast strength gain and high ultimate performance. It is a versatile solution for ready-mix concrete, precast products, tunnel segment construction, shotcrete, dry-mortar production, and specialized repair systems.
Portland cement is manufactured by firing a carefully controlled blend of raw materials—primarily limestone, silica and alumina, with small additions of other constituents—to produce clinker. The clinker is then ground with calcium sulfate (to regulate setting) to the required fineness. During grinding, up to 5% of additional minor constituents may be incorporated.
TITAN I 42.5 R is produced from the same high-quality clinker as CEM I Portland cement but is ground significantly finer for enhanced reactivity. The result is higher early strength—without a significant reduction in setting time or in the workability retention period.
Characteristics and Benefits:
- Boosts precast productivity by enabling earlier stripping and faster cycle times.
- Supports concreting in low temperatures thanks to its rapid strength development.
- Suitable for prestressed concrete applications that require compliance with chloride compound limits.
- An ideal choice for architectural concrete, with stable colour—used in landmark projects such as the Acropolis Museum, where exposed concrete is a defining feature.

Product Applications
For long-lasting, durable concrete with CEM I 42.5 R, it is important to maintain an appropriate cement content in the mix. ELOT EN 206 and the Concrete Technology Regulation 2016 provide practical guidance on cement use across exposure classes, aggressive ground conditions and the intended service life of the structure.
CEM I 42.5 R is compatible with standard concrete admixtures, including plasticisers, air-entraining agents and retarders.

Environmental Product Declaration (EPD), Declaration of Performance and CE Marking
Our cements comply with the ELOT ΕΝ 197-1 harmonized European standard and are subject to third-party accreditation procedures by a notified EU body according to System 1+ for the Assessment & Verification of Constancy of Performance (AVCP).
TITAN has published the Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) of cement, through an independent certified body.
The EPDs, the Declaration of Performance on the key attributes of the product and the CE Marking can be found here (https://www.titan.gr/en/products-and-services/documents-and-brochures).
The CE Marking is placed on the packaging and/or the dispatch documents as per the Regulation for Construction Products.

Health and Safety
Contact with wet cement, wet concrete or cement mix may cause irritation, dermatitis or serious alkali burns. The contact of cement dust with bodily fluids (e.g. sweat or eye moisture) may also cause irritation, dermatitis or burns. It entails a serious risk of eye damage. Wear suitable, impermeable protective clothing, gloves and eye/face protection. In case of eye contact, rinse off immediately with plenty of clean water and seek medical advice. After skin contact, wash off immediately with plenty of clean water. Keep out of reach of children. Contains chromium (VI). May cause allergic reactions, the risk of which is higher if the cement is used beyond the use-by date stated in the dispatch documents.
