Grey sulfate-resistant cement for technically demanding concrete applications

CEM I 42.5 R-SR5 is a high early strength Portland cement designed for concrete formulations that require rapid mechanical strength development and enhanced durability in sulfate-rich environments. It delivers production reliability and consistent performance in the finished structure.

It is an ideal choice for concrete exposed to moderate (XA2) and high (XA3) chemical attack from sulfates in soil or groundwater, where enhanced chemical resistance, high strength, and long-term reliability are essential.

Its high early strength helps reduce demoulding time and accelerate construction progress, making it especially valuable for precast elements, infrastructure projects, and applications where fast concrete performance is required. At the same time, its composition supports the production of concrete with high final strength and durable behavior under demanding exposure conditions.

By combining high mechanical performance, sulfate resistance, and broad suitability for technically demanding concrete applications, this product meets the needs of modern civil engineering works, industrial facilities, marine projects, and precast construction.

  1. Product Applications

CEM I 42.5 R-SR5 is suitable for the production of high-performance concrete in projects that demand enhanced sulfate resistance, rapid strength development, and reliable behavior under challenging exposure conditions. It is recommended for foundations, underground structures, port and coastal works, sewage networks, industrial facilities, as well as concrete exposed to moderate and high chemical attack from sulfates, in line with the requirements of the applicable Concrete Technology Regulation.

Thanks to its high early strength, the product is also particularly well suited to precast elements, projects with increased productivity demands, and applications where faster demoulding and shorter construction cycles are required. It can be used in combination with standard concrete admixtures such as plasticizers, superplasticizers, air-entraining agents, and retarders, always in accordance with technical guidance and mix design requirements.

  2. Environmental Product Declaration (EPD), Declaration of Performance and CE Marking

Our cements comply with the harmonized European standard EN 197-1 and are subject to certification procedures by an EU notified body in accordance with system 1+ for the Assessment and Verification of Constancy of Performance (AVCP).

The Declaration of Performance for the product’s essential characteristics and the CE Marking are available here. The CE Marking is placed on the packaging and/or delivery documents, as required by the Construction Products Regulation.

  3. Health and Safety

Contact with wet cement, wet concrete, or mortar may cause irritation, dermatitis, or severe alkaline burns. Contact between cement dust and bodily fluids (for example sweat or eye fluid) may also cause irritation, dermatitis, or burns. There is a serious risk of eye damage. Wear suitable waterproof protective clothing, gloves, and eye/face protection. In case of eye contact, rinse immediately with plenty of clean water and seek medical advice. After skin contact, wash immediately with plenty of clean water. Keep out of reach of children. Contains chromium (VI). May cause an allergic reaction, the risk of which increases if the cement is used beyond the declared storage period stated in the delivery documents.
