ISO 14001 certification for the environment
TITAN obtained the ISO 14001certification for its Environmental Management System, after inspections carried out by the Hellenic Organization for Standardization SA (ELOT) at the Company's cement production plants in Kamari, Efkarpia, and Drepano. This certification officially recognizes that the Company's business decisions and strategic objectives, always consider the "environment factor” and that the processes in the cement production units are harmonized with the international standards. It is noted that TITAN is the first Greek cement industry - and one of the first in the world - to obtain the international validation of ISO 14001.
TITAN’s environmental policies were first applied 40 years ago, with the installation of the first electrostatic filtering system in Greece and has ever since continued in all its operations. TITAN uses the best available technology to minimize pollutant emissions, apply proper waste management, prevent noise pollution, save energy and natural resource by using alternative fuels, and safely managing land and sea transports. The Company is also very active in restoring quarry areas, creating green zones around the production units, planting trees from its privately owned nurseries in public and private areas, etc.
TITAN has been many times awarded by Greek and international organizations, such as the National Committee of the European Year of the Environment, the Commission of the European Communities, EVEA, etc. for its responsible and effective management in relation to the environment. Obtaining the ISO 14001 Certification is one more recognition and at the same time a commitment by the Company to pursuing the implementation of a strict regulatory system.
