FATAL ACCIDENT IN TITAN ELEFSIS PLANT

TITAN Cement S.A. wishes to express its profound sorrow at the accident which has occurred at the port facilities of the Group’s Elefsina plant. The accident – in which two workers lost their lives and five others were injured – happened during scheduled work on a ship loading machinery being carried out by a contracting company.

The Group is cooperating with the competent authorities to identify the causes of the accident and take all necessary measures to ensure such a tragedy cannot recur.

TITAN Cement S.A. has one of the lowest accident rates of any company in the world operating in the same sector. Special measures were introduced to prevent accidents in the workplace long before such precautions were required by legislation. There are employee Health and Safety Committees in operation at all plants and the workforce receive regular, thorough training in all aspects of accident prevention.

Titan’s main concern at this moment is to offer all the necessary help and support to the victims and their families.
