The Paul and Alexandra Canellopoulos Foundation (PACF) announced its intention to undertake, through a donation, the full modernization of the General Hospital of Attica KAT, including major infrastructure upgrades and the complete renovation of the existing facilities.
During a dedicated meeting presided over by the Prime Minister of the Hellenic Republic Kyriakos Mitsotakis and in the presence of Minister of Health Adonis Georgiadis, the Foundation’s Chair Nellos Canellopoulos, the Foundation’s Treasurer Alexandra Papalexopoulou-Benopoulou, as well as executives from the Government, the Foundation, and the Hospital, the project’s priorities were reviewed to ensure that the most critical interventions are carried out first, while minimizing disruption to the hospital’s operations, which operates 24/7, 365 days/year.
KAT is the largest trauma and orthopedic center in the Balkans, where approximately 16,000 surgical procedures are performed and an average of 25,000 patients are hospitalized annually.
In a statement, the Foundation’s Chair, Nellos Canellopoulos, noted: “With a strong sense of duty and respect for the work carried out by the National Health System, and the Ministry of Health’s ongoing efforts to improve the services provided, the Paul and Alexandra Canellopoulos Foundation intends to undertake, as donor, the full renovation and modernization of the General Hospital of Attica KAT, the largest trauma and orthopedic center in the Balkans. Upon completion, a state-of-the-art hospital will be delivered to its patients, as well as to its medical, nursing, and administrative staff, ensuring the continuation of high‑quality healthcare services for people across Greece.”
The Paul and Alexandra Canellopoulos Foundation, established by members of the founding family of TITAN Cement Company S.A., implements numerous donations in the fields of healthcare and medical care, actively supporting public health institutions.
